Hey y’all! This week went by in the blink of an eye. I enjoyed the loveliest little trip to Portland, Maine, for a writer’s retreat with The Longfellow Hotel, which included a small event cohosted by Longfellow Books. This was my first time in Maine, and I was very grateful to be able to bring my assistant / groupie / husband, Matthew, with me. I have had the opportunity to travel to some really fantastic places for book events, but sleeping alone in a hotel room can get a bit lonely. Having someone to explore and laugh with really made all the difference. Hilariously, he also ran into someone from work, and ended up conducting some business of his own. Power couple alert…
We were also blessed by the most beautiful two-day stretch of weather that Portland had seen all year long, which led to a very lengthy, meandering walking tour of the city’s outdoor breweries — of which there are approximately 10,000. Biergartens and kombucharies and even a hard seltzer hall. How are there so many abandoned warehouses in such a tiny radius? The question continued to allude us, but we had our pick of samplings. I feel like I now understand Role Model better. Here’s the report:
